Universal Yums: January 2019 – Germany

This month’s snacks came from Germany. I have actually been to Germany a few times in my previous job. We had offices in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin and Dusseldorf… although I never actually went to the Dusseldorf office. I always enjoyed the food in Germany. I have a particular soft spot for currywurst. I never got to eat many snacks though, so I was excited to try this box.

Zitrone Wafflen

I really like lemon flavoured things so these super tart lemon wafers were right up my alley. Mr O declared them way too sour and Little O spat them out so I reckon they’re only for mega lemon fans like me.

Hazelnut Sun Rice

I couldn’t eat these little chocolate biscuits because they have hazelnuts in but Little O loved them and kept asking for more “special biscuits” once they were finished.

Shokomonk Poppy Seed Bar

I like poppy seeds and I like white chocolate. I never thought to put them together. It was very crunchy. Not bad but not amazing.

Lorenz Curly Peanut Puffs

To me this was like if you made peanut butter wotsits. I am not sure if would be for everyone but I LOVE peanut butter. I eat peanut butter out of the jar. So for me these were heavenly.

Bohme Sour Fruit Toffees

I only got to try the apple version of these. Mr O ate all the rest before I got to them which is definitely an indication that he liked them. If you have ever had a sour Starburst that’s pretty much exactly what these are. Nothing special.

Mr. Blubber Lucky “Gluck” Coins

These were weird. Sort of like if you decided to eat a Berocca instead of dissolving it. I couldn’t tell you what the flavour was… sort of fruity.

XOX Zwiebels

Initially I thought these onion rings were delicious but the flavour was really strong and I actually couldn’t eat the whole bag. Fortunately Little O was on hand to help.

Overall it was a pretty decent box. Next month we’re tasting snacks from Italy, which I am really looking forward to!
