A couple of weekends ago Mr O, Little O and I headed off to Lisbon for a long weekend. A few months ago we had watched a travel show featuring the city and we liked the look of it so much we decided to plan a break there. It was the first time we have travelled abroad with Little O without either extended family joining us or where we were going to see our extended family.
There were a few challenges. Little O didn’t really want to wear his seatbelt on the plane. We couldn’t really use the buggy (not that he wants to go in it anyway) and he would only let me carry him when he didn’t fancy walking. Overall though it was a lovely trip to a place full of personality, warmth, amazing views and delicious food. I would highly recommend it!

Rua Augusta frames a lovely view of the seafront

These little stone statues are all along the beach

We walked all the way up a massive hill to see this view before discovering there was an elevator

Little O was very excited about seeing a real castle

Views from the castle are amazing

We spent some time in the quirky neighbourhood of Barrio Alto

We saw a lot of amazing graffiti

Many of the buildings in Lisbon are covered in beautiful mosaic tiles

Can you tell this viewing tower was designed by Gustav Eiffel’s apprentice?

We visited the amazing Lisbon aquarium

Little O is really into Finding Nemo at the moment so he was very excited by the fish

I loved the jellyfish

I felt like these frogs were my kindred spirits

And who doesn’t love penguins!
I already want to go back!
I regret never going to Lisbon. (Or Portugal) Maybe one day. From your photos, it looks like a fun and interesting place.
Best wishes, Pete.
It’s a lovely city. I would definitely go back!
I would love to go to Lisbon. Thank you for taking me along! Great shots. š
I would absolutely recommend it. We had such a nice time.
Lisbon is great. Brings back good memories. “A place full of personality, warmth, amazing views and delicious food” is just right.
I am so glad we went. I think I would like to explore more of Portugal!
