Romeo & Juliet Secret Cinema… some pictures

Recently Mr O and I were fortunate enough to attend the Secret Cinema presentation of Baz Luhrman’s Romeo & Juliet. For those who aren’t aware of Secret Cinema, it’s an immersive experience that tries to give you the feeling of being within the film. An environment that to some extent personifies the film is created, scenes are acted out before and alongside the film being shown and you can interact with the characters.

We are both big fans of the 1996 pop culture smash hit and I am a bit of a Baz Luhrman fangirl so when we found out Romeo & Juliet was going to be the latest outing we couldn’t resist.

Part of the experience of attending is getting dressed up to match the environment. Mr O and I were both assigned to be Montagues.

It was at this point that I realised that the only young female character in Romeo & Juliet is Juliet… and she is a Capulet but I had a go at it anyway.

As the whole point of Secret Cinema is that it remains secret, we had to seal our phones into special bags at the entrance and I won’t tell you about what happened inside because that ruins the secret. What I will share is some pictures of our costumes so you can have a giggle at how silly we looked.

Shortly after this the actor playing Benvolio called me “a hot piece of ass”

  1. I have heard of Secret Cinema, but the secret is so well kept, I know little about it. You two certainly looked the part, and no doubt enjoyed it. Sadly, I can’t agree about the film, which I thought was awful! 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. I suppose the film is very much of an era. I can see how it (much like Lurhman’s style as a whole) could be a bit love/hate.

    1. Thank you! We had so much fun dressing up!

      1. I can see that. You are one cool couple.
