Christmasathon: Day 5 & 6

Two more TV specials for day 5 and 6 of Christmasathon.

Day 5: Gavin & Stacey – S2.8

day 5

Set on: Christmas eve and Christmas day
What happens?: The Barry gang travel to Billericay to spend Christmas in Essex but things kick off when Gavin announces he and Stacey are moving to Cardiff.
Does it snow?: No
Is it heartwarming?:  In places
What lessons are learned?: It’s hard for mums to let go. Don’t forget your relatives when you go home for the evening. It’s not Christmas until there’s been a barney. There’s no reason Santa has to be a man.

Nessa: [Dressed as Santa Claus, talking to a little boy on her knee] Oh. Oh. Oh. Merry Christmas.

Day 6: The Office – Christmas Party

day6.jpg

Set on: At the office Christmas party
What happens?: Michael turns Secret Santa into a shitshow by ignoring the present price cap.
Does it snow?: No
Is it heartwarming?:  In places
What lessons are learned?: Secret Santa is a sacred institution not to be messed with. Booze makes everything better. No one wants a hand-knitted oven mitt.

“Michael Scott: Christmas is awesome. First of all, you got to spend time with people you love. Secondly, you can get drunk and no one can say anything. Third, you give presents. What’s better than giving presents? And fourth, getting presents. So four things. Not bad for one day. It’s really the greatest day of all time.”

  1. Two I really love. Gervais excelled at this stuff, and Ruth Jones and gang were flawless in G&S.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Ah this is the US Office but I enjoy the UK one too.

Nessa is one of my favourite TV characters.

      1. Sorry, mistook it for the UK Office, reading too quickly. I never watched the US one. Nessa is great, Ruth’s finest hour…
