Weeks pregnant: 22
Baby size in vegetables: Spaghetti squash (WTF is a spaghetti squash? Do we get them in the UK? Has anyone ever purchased or consumed such a thing)
For the last week or so I have been wearing maternity jeans. I can still just about wedge myself into my normal jeans but they were starting to get a bit uncomfortable. Initially I tried raiding my closet for some of my fat jeans but they were all too big in the legs/arse and they still sat uncomfortably on the bump.
Having done a bit of research (AKA asking other pregnant women on the BabyCentre forum) I decided to try out H&M’s Mama range. I am quite pleased to say that although they suggest going up a size if you are between 4 and 6 months pregnant that I still comfortably fit into a size 12 and when I say comfortably I am not kidding. Maternity jeans are the most comfortable thing I have ever worn. I may never wear normal jeans again (although I did not appreciate it when one of my male colleagues made the joke that I might never be able to). Unlike my other jeans they don’t push my bump down though so when I have got them on I look like a proper pregnant lady… rather than just someone who might have had too many roast dinners. Fortunately the rest of my clothes are still doing okay… apart from one shirt that I can no longer do up because of my boobs rather than the bump… because nothing other than the jeans has really appealed to me so far. Is it wrong to want to be stylish, sexy and pregnant all at once?
In other news I am starting to wonder just how much one woman can realistically pee (and yes, I know it is only going to get worse). I used to be a bit like a camel and make very few bathroom breaks but now I feel like I am never out of the bathroom. In fact Mr O seems to think that my most used phrase is, “I need a wee.” This is not helped by the fact that Little O is particularly fond of booting me in the bladder for several hours of every day. There are days where I have a wee before I get in the shower and need another one by the time I get out. How am I making so much liquid when I haven’t been consuming any more than usual? Apparently not only am I weeing for two but my enlarged uterus is likely to be pressing on my bladder and there are hormones at work. Better get used to it. At least the maternity jeans are easy to get up and down!
