The latest group of selfies once again has me pulling all kinds of faces. If I have learned one thing from this project it is definitely to embrace not always presenting a “perfect” face on the Internet and getting in touch with what an expressive person I am – something I discovered hasn’t gone unnoticed at work. In my new job teams get together once every two weeks to do a retrospective of how things have gone and how we can keep doing good things and work on things where we can do better. We do all kinds of crazy activities to tease out our feelings and I personally really look forward to retros. This week we drew ourselves as superheros and it turns out that my team really buzzes on my energy and enthusiasm. Fortunately for me they are so awesome that they make it super easy.
Now on to the selfies…
One of my favourite things about my job is doing statistical modelling (yes really) but sometimes trying to build a formula can really test your brain and by this point of the afternoon I had the value calculation statistical modelling blues
Sometimes the mere fact that it’s Friday is enough to make you smile
On Saturday I went to my friend, Carrie’s, birthday party. There was a treasure hunt and I was very excited… and competitive. It didn’t really help much since my team came last out of the three competing but we had a blast
Before I started exercising I didn’t realise how good working out would be for my mental well being. Now gym feels like a place I go to heal and strengthen not only my body but also my brain.
I have discovered a major downside to losing weight… I get cold now… really cold… all the time. I went out to get something for lunch and I didn’t think to take my coat so I was bloody freezing.
There is a moment every year in London when you realise it’s winter because even though you’re getting up at 7am it’s still dark. It feels like it’s come really fast this year!
This is my face just after getting some absolutely mind-blowing news that I was having some trouble processing. It’s extremely good news, which I can’t share right now but let’s just say it was intense.
A big part of my new job is attending demos to sign off new product features. Sometimes getting all the pieces of the puzzle to work in a test environment can be a bit of a nightmare and on this particular day my tester and I were at our wits end because everything went wrong
On my way to work a man drove past me in a big truck. He hung out of his window and made kissing noises at me… like when you call a dog. Why do some men think treating a woman like she is subhuman is a compliment?
