Outfit of the week #57: The LBD

I’m not normally a great one for all black. It’s all prints and patterns here. The more stripy and floral the better. But there is no question that a lady needs a little black dress in her arsenal – one that can be dressed up or down and flatter all her best bits. This one is a new acquisition for me and I think it really fits the brief. I’ll be wearing it for cocktails at the Ham Yard Hotel tonight.
I am wearing a black jersey midi dress with gold belt and button detailing from Oasis with a pair of ankle strap kitten heels from River Island and a faux pearl bracelet I found on the bus years ago (because I’m an opportunist).

  1. Very pretty! I shy away from black. It really does not flatter me at all. But it looks great on you 🙂

Thank-you so much! I agree that black can be really draining so I wear it sparingly. They actually had a burgundy version of this dress. I’m half tempted to go back and get that too!

  2. Very cute! And good find on the bracelet!

Thanks! Unfortunately it broke that very night 😦

  3. You look great! Slim and trim in black, umm that is pretty much the best thing ever right?!

I can’t believe how flattering this dress is. I’m really tempted to go out and get the burgundy version too.

      1. Yes YES go buy it!!! It looks really good on you and with burgundy I am sure you can do something different with the accessories and shoes and turn it into a whole new outfit. 🙂 Love it!!

  4. LOVE this one! So flattering! Lookin’ good, girl! 🙂

Thank-you! Unfortunately I haven’t gotten to wear it again as it’s now a bit chilly. Might need to try it out with tights though.

      1. Oh totally! Tights and a cute cardigan and boom–fall outfit. 🙂
