One of the things that makes a good movie great for me is its quotability. The more awesome memorable oneliners the better… in fact there are quite a few film that I can almost quote along line for line. I think we all have a couple of those, my husband possibly too many. Trust me, you do not want to watch Withnail and I with him. These are the ones that have all my most loved lines in them. Just in case no one has noticed, I am completely stuck in the 90s.

Great list Abbi! Especially Waynes World 2!
My list would include Anchorman, Aliens, Predator, and The Dark Knight
Anchorman for sure, I try and use some Burgundy gold in everyday life 🙂
Great Odin’s raven! I actually can’t believe I missed Anchorman out. I should go back to my home on whore island. I might actually do a post of just my top 10 Anchorman quotes.
And Die Hard With A Vengeance!
I’m not a big Die Hard fan… I fell asleep.
Some fun choices here!
I know it is preictable but I would have to include Pulp Fiction on my list!
Thanks! Pulp Fiction has some great quotes.
It sure does!
So pleased the Wayne’s World films were on here! Unbelievably quotable 🙂 Also interesting choice on Lawless.
If you were a teenager in the 90’s the Wayne’s World films obviously formed the basis of 50% of yout vocabulary 😉
I think Lawless has some awesome lines in it. “I thought I walked” gets used on everyone in my office who comes up with some grandiose thing that they can’t deliver.
Excellent list! Even though Wayne’s World 2 wasn’t as good as the first one the quotability potential is stellar.
I agree. Del is hilarious though. I often tack “I hate to beat them to death with their own shoes” to the end of random anecdotes.
Ha, fun list Abbi! Love them all. Especially Wayne’s World — well, if we are going with Mike Meyers, then add “Oh, do behave” from Austin Powers–anything Dory says makes me laugh.
Austin Powers has some awesome quotes. I think the silly movies have the best one liners!
Labyrinth and Lethal Weapon and Tremors!
I have to admit that I’ve never seen Tremors. Labyrinth is awesome though.
Great list! BUT OMG, no Mean Girls or Superbad?! hahah
I think that’s totally an age thing. All my teen movies are from the 90s when I was a teenager.
Yeah, that makes sense. Totally a generational thing. I can quote Mean Girls pretty much word-for-word, and I think Superbad is the funniest movie ever.
I do love Superbad. McLovin’ is so funny. Mean Girls I think I’ve only seen a couple of times but it has some great lines. I often use the Africa one because I’ve been asked a few times how I can be African if I’m not black.
Glad you like them 🙂
And that Africa question has got to be one of the dumbest questions ever!
Fantastic list as always Abbi!
Nobody ever gets it when I drop “And I’m BACK IN THE GAME!” 😦 You would though ahahahaha.
Thank-you! I actually do that all the time!
WHOOP!
Clearly you are not a fifty year old guy or you would have Stripes and Caddyshack on the list. I liked most of your choice though, 10 Things has a lot of good ones.
I think this one is really so age specific because I had someone younger than me ask about Mean Girls anf Superbad. I guess the catchphrases from your teens are the ones that really stick!
Actually laughed out loud at “Do you speak Whale”….great choice.
Thanks! My former flatmate once ended up at a house party very late at night, very drunk and went to the bathroom where bizarrely they had a full undersea mural. She was found standing in the bath shouting, “do you speak whale?” In Dory’s voice to no one in particular.
OMG loved this! I laughed all the way through reading this. I am totally stuck in the 90s too, the days when we held on tight and rewatched our beloved VHS tapes over and over again. The escalator scene… lol … not a year goes by that I don’t read about some escalator accident… hahaha
Most of my VHS tapes were bootlegged off the TV which made them even better.
HAHA yes!! I did that too. And there was always like 4 movies on one VHS so you had to rewind or fast forward till you found what you wanted to watch. Kids these days they have it so easy!!
