Outfit of the week #11

I can’t say I am a massive fan of the gender politics of the 50’s but boy do I love the clothes from that era and they’re particularly flattering for the more “fluffy” of those out there.

In this outfit I am wearing a navy and white 50’s inspired, heart-patterned, knee-length dress from ASOS Curve with a faux pearl necklace from Accessorize and my beloved red and white striped canvas sandals from Office. And of course a splash of red lipstick… because you can’t do 50’s glam without it. The secret of this dress’ fit and flare style comes from two little net inserts at the waist that give some of the illusion of wearing a petticoat without all the bulk.

I can’t take full credit for this look since the dress was a gift from my husband, who is impressively good at picking out clothes for pretty much everyone!
