My top 10 kids in movies

The saying goes, never work with animals or children… but every now and then it’s the kid in the film that completely steals the show. These are my favourite pint-sized scene stealers.

  1. Gotta love Little Miss Sunshine!! Great post 😀

Thanks! Olive kind of reminds me of myself when I was younger so she’s a favourite character of mine and her dance at the end is just amazing!

  2. Great idea for a top ten! And great choices. 🙂 I agree with these – it’s difficult to always like kids in movies as they too often make them “bratty”. I hate bratty kids in movies! And too many kids in movies are baaaaad actors but you have some great acting in your list (especially Haley Joel Osment, Thomas Turgoose & Chloe Moretz). Glad you included This Is England – fantastic film! Love Little Miss Sunshine, too. Only one I’ve not seen is Beasts of the Southern Wild. Not sure who I’d include that you haven’t… Macaulay Culkin is actually a great character in Home Alone (thanks to John Hughes, who writes great characters). And an obscure one I love is Savannah Smiles (she’s adorable! I swear no one else has seen that movie). Oh! And totally agree with the kid in Bicycle Thieves – he was the best thing about that movie for me. Great job here. 🙂

I totally get what you mean about bratty kids. I can’t stand it either. I thought about Macauley Culkin and I think he definitely would have made a top 20. I’d strongly recommend Beasts of The Southern Wild. It’s not for everyone but Quevenzhane Wallis gives a mind blowing performance for someone so young.
