My top 10 movie soundtracks

There will be no Film Friday this week. In between not having any internet or Sky for almost two weeks and using up the entire 3G quota on my iPad, I just haven’t been able to fit in the requisite four films. I didn’t want to go for a whole week with no cinematic content so I have decided to go all Cinema Parrot Disco and do a top 10, combining my two greatest loves – film and music.

So with no further ado, I bring you my top 10 movie soundtracks (in no particular order). For the purposes of this top 10 I am considering a soundtrack to be made up of actual songs rather than backing music, which would be a score. I’d love to hear your favourites. (Stuck in the 90’s? Me? Never!)

Good Choices Abs πŸ™‚ 5 of my Fav movies in there!

  2. Abbi

All the movies we watched together about 1000 times. The next time I come and visit we have to introduce Skyla to Dazed and Confused…

  3. Hahaha! I love it! Yes, you know I love making lists. πŸ˜‰ Good choices! And I was totally planning on doing this as a list at some point. I just love so many soundtracks that I’d have a hell of a time narrowing it down! Although I’m pretty sure some of yours would be on mind too. Dazed & Confused for sure! (Did you have the second one too?). The Wedding Singer was also good (and also had a second soundtrack). And The Crow! Yes! I’m sure I like most everything on 500 Days Of Summer as I liked the music in the movie. Overall, though, I think my list would be slightly more 80s to your 90s (but I’m older). πŸ˜‰

  4. (Pump Up The Volume is the first one that pops into mind of my favorite soundtracks…)

Oh no – I’m not going to get started now – I should be sleeping! I’ll just do a list. Eventually. πŸ™‚

I was a teenager in the 90s so I guess that’s why the films from that era resonate with me so much. So looking forward to the rest of your list!

  5. Nice list!!!! 500 Days of Summer is my personal fav because of the Smiths mentions. Have you seen Perks of being a Wallflower, includes a Smiths track and a Morrissey track.

Thanks! I love The Smiths. I actually walked down the aisle to “There is a Light That Never Goes Out.” I have seen Perks of Being a Wallflower and I was considering it for the list but 500 Days of Summer just pipped it to the post.

  6. No love for the Singles soundtrack?

    1. Abbi

I’ve not seen it but I looked it up on IMDB and it sounds like my kind of thing so I’m going to check it out.

  7. Forrest Gump and Elizabethtown are two of my favorite soundtracks. Nice list!
